Museums are the “Show window” of a country’s educational and cultural development. The Museums are considered as the greatest exponents of visual instructions to the people and are termed as “people’s universities”. Scientists and Naturalists have been indicating the useful role the Museum can play in the conservation of Wildlife in a country. The Museum is a place of education which it discharges by means of displaying exhibits in their natural habitats in the galleries with proper scientific data about each exhibit. Natural History Museum is depicting Biological Sciences and is the only place where the Natural History of country can be exhibited.

In addition to the old concept of displaying the fauna and flora in the museum, present concepts are to study them too and their relationship and interaction with the Environment. This is also the method of Audio-visual aids to impart better knowledge and understanding of various exhibits and their behaviours.

The Zoological Survey Department was established in Pakistan in June 1948 and one of its aims is set up and maintains Natural History Museum as one of the resultant aspects of the research activities of this department. A nucleus of the Museums is in existence at Fish Harbour, West Wharf, Karachi. The Natural History Museum in addition of being show window of fauna & flora and source of research activities, the visit to Natural History Museum by children and elders will also create love for Natural objects and desire to keep pets and to save diminishing natural heritage of the country.
